Paulinhx is a selector, curator and multidisciplinary artist from Gasconha and the Basque Country. Drawing from south-west poetics, diasporic rhythms, soul traditions and feminist perspectives, their genre-fluid selections move between listening session, radio broadcast and dancefloor ritual. Resident at Organ' Phantom and previously Jazz Athletic Club Radio, Paulinhx is an active member of the female:pressure network and supports inclusive spaces where sound becomes joy, resistance and collective memory.

Paulinhx is a selector, curator and multidisciplinary artist from Gasconha and the Basque Country whose work explores the intersections of sound, memory and collective experience. Rooted in south-west poetics and shaped by years within diasporic, underground and community-driven music cultures, their selections weave together soul, jazz, house, bass music, feminist perspectives and political resonance.

Raised between Occitan and Italian musical traditions, Paulinhx grew up surrounded by bossa nova, bolero, fandango, blues, jazz, village brass bands, cassette tapes and pirate radio broadcasts. Early encounters with Caribbean sound system culture through a Guadeloupean dancehall vinyl selector, alongside years spent within Bordeaux's Afro-diasporic, D&B,reggae, hip-hop, electronic and free-party scenes, laid the foundations for a lifelong passion for musical discovery and collective listening.

Alongside DJing, they have performed as a musician, playing guitar, bass and percussion, notably with the punk fusion band The Droogys. Their practice later expanded toward curation, radio, event organization and community-building through projects in Panama, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Bahia, Berlin and beyond. Experiences as volunteer staff at the Son'Art, Artist Care at Zoobook Agency and at the Siestes Électroniques festival, organizer and booker at Maracujá Collective and MVP contributed to the development of cultural exchanges and collaborative artistic networks across the planet.

Today, as a resident of Organ' Phantom in Bordeaux and an active member of the female:pressure network, Paulinhx continues to create spaces where sound becomes joy, resistance and collective memory through performances, radio broadcasts, cultural projects and international community-driven initiatives.

Through genre-fluid DJ sets, radio broadcasts and cultural projects, they weave together south-west poetics, soul traditions, indigenous and feminist perspectives, and dancefloor energy, creating musical journeys that move between intimacy, celebration and collective reflection.

A resident at Organ' Phantom and Jazz Athletic Club Radio, Paulinhx has performed internationally and shared lineups with artists including Nathalie Robinson, Lady Blacktronika, Kotoe, RP Boo, DJ Pierre, Linn da Quebrada and many others. Their approach to DJing is rooted as much in storytelling and research as in dancefloor dynamics, drawing connections between musical histories, contemporary club cultures and overlooked sonic archives.

Their relationship with music began long before they entered clubs or radio studios. Raised between Occitan and Italian family traditions, they grew up surrounded by classical music, bossa nova, blues, jazz, village brass bands and live performances by relatives and family friends. Music was experienced as a living, collective practice, embedded in everyday life, celebrations and local culture.

Paulinhx developed an active practice as a musician, playing guitar, bass and percussion. During their high-school years they performed with the seven-piece punk-fusion band The Drooggys, sharing stages at the legendary Krakatoa venue with artists including Magyd Cherfi and Zouk Machine. Their curiosity gradually expanded toward music production, recording technologies, digital audio workstations and sound design, alongside a lifelong passion for record collecting and musical discovery.

As a child and teenager, Paulinhx spent countless hours listening to the radio, records and cassette tapes, including recordings of pirate radio broadcasts and live concerts shared by friends. They exchanged mixtapes, burned homemade CD compilations and developed an early fascination with musical discovery and sound system culture. During their university years, a first DJ mentor—a Guadeloupean dancehall vinyl selector—introduced them to Caribbean musical cultures, vinyl selection and sound system traditions. Through this mentorship and years spent within Bordeaux's Afro-diasporic communities, drum & bass, reggae, dancehall, dub, hip-hop and bass-heavy sound system cultures became central influences. At the same time, they became immersed in Bordeaux's electronic underground, free-party networks and rave scenes. Their exploration of electronic music was further shaped by Dutch mentor A Mineur, who introduced them to Traktor Scratch, timecode vinyl and the harder edges of the Dutch electronic scene, from acid and techno to contemporary club culture. Together, these experiences laid the foundations for a genre-fluid practice rooted equally in vinyl culture, electronic experimentation and a lifelong curiosity for musical discovery.

Community-building has remained a central aspect of their practice. In Bordeaux and Toulouse, they contributed to local cultural initiatives through the concert venue Son'Art and volunteered with festivals including Siestes Électroniques, helping foster grassroots artistic communities and collaborative spaces. In 2017, they became part of Berlin's Maracujá collective and collaborated closely with the band Passiflora, helping develop cultural exchanges between European and Brazilian artistic communities. Through touring, collaborative projects and the co-organization of more than twenty events across Brazil and Europe, they contributed to festivals, venues and independent cultural spaces including Studio dB, Juicy Bar at Garbicz Festival and numerous grassroots initiatives. These experiences reinforced a long-term commitment to transnational artistic dialogue, collective organizing and community-centred cultural work.

Beyond performing, Paulinhx has remained active as a curator, event organizer, radio host and cultural facilitator. Over the years they have contributed to Berlin's vibrant musical ecosystem through independent events, collaborative projects, radio programming and community initiatives. Through their ongoing involvement with the female:pressure network and international artistic communities, they continue to support visibility, knowledge-sharing and more inclusive music ecosystems.

Travel remains a central part of their creative practice. Whether performing, researching local musical traditions or digging through record stores, flea markets and community archives, Paulinhx approaches music as a living repository of stories, movements and encounters. Their selections move fluidly between soul, jazz, house, broken beat, footwork, baile funk, bass cultures, experimental electronics and diasporic rhythms.

Outside of music, they maintain a multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, ecological construction, masonry, software development and security engineering. These parallel practices inform a broader approach to culture rooted in care, craftsmanship, collective knowledge and long-term sustainability.

Across performances, radio broadcasts and cultural projects, Paulinhx creates spaces where listening becomes a shared experience and where sound functions simultaneously as joy, resistance and collective memory.
